Propaganda

WHO ARE WE?

Verge has always been a “Camp/ference” built to challenge the status quo of Youth culture and the passive nature of Church culture. But more than that, VERGE is a tribe of people who look into conflict, tragedy and brokenness and see an opportunity to advance the narrative of “Kingdom”.

WHO ARE WE NOT

We are not a club and we are not an event. We are not lead by anything made with hands nor do we seek to influence people toward a specific opinion. Our culture is built on the stone that the builders rejected. (Ps. 118:22). Jesus modeled what we seek to become.

BLINDED IN 2020

“20/20” may speak of perfect vision but I’m sure you would agree that our society appears more blinded than ever before. 20/20 vision is only found from the vantage point of “heavenly places” (Ephesians 2) where Kingdom perspective presents the solutions for what plagues our nation, city, neighborhood, and heart.

We know from the past that devotion does not preclude you from deception. If the builder’s rejected the true cornerstone, are we not also at risk of being deceived? A flawed perspective can cause well-meaning, devoted people to reject and ultimately miss out on the answer they pray for.

SO WHAT WILL YOU DO?

If you call yourself a part of VERGE, it’s time to launch an all-out assault on small thinking, selfish ambition, and spiritual blindness that causes God’s kids to live beneath their potential. We cannot play God, or pretend in times like these. Propaganda is at your doorstep crouching in eager expectation to tap your emotions & past wounds through images and slogans, or selective use of information and censorship of the facts.

IT’S TIME TO COURAGEOUSLY REJECT THE PROPAGANDA

Today we set out to engage with those interested in interrupting the “My World” narrative. VERGE 2020 will be built around the theme of “Courageous Conversations”. Like in the story of Noah, we once again see a need to flood the "worlds" that we have created. This is not a water thing, but a flood of content that brings into view our need for a higher input. We want to infuse our social worlds with content that inspires a new thought, a better blueprint to build.

WHAT IS THE GOAL?

To embrace a “Kingdom” view and reject a “My World” view, we need your creative expression. This can be captured through a scripture, a piece of art, a quote you can’t shake, or anything you highlight to start a conversation. Each post should cause us to push pause and think about where we’ve been, but with the hope of an olive branch for a brand new tomorrow. I believe with some honest reflection and courageous conversations, Jesus can be represented by your generation as the true cornerstone we can build our world on. #courageousconversations
